Telling my friends and family I'm at a digital arts festival, but sitting in a darkened warehouse, lit by colourful lamps, LEDs and laptop screens.
It rocks.
#revision2024
There's the #TIC80 jam at 1pm CET (about half an hour from this message). I might well be on stage and attempting something overly ambitious...

Given that I am at a Demoparty, I suppose I should work on my website that I haven't updated in a year.
I just updated the playlist content on https://prods.page/, I might fuck around and see what kinds of improvements I can make over the weekend.
Heading to E-Werk Saarbrücken for #revision2024 in a about an hour. Looking forward to The Meteorik's and Shader Showdown qualifiers the most today.
First time at Revision after nearly a decade of watching from afar. I enjoy a good convention, but during the pandemic Revision was the only remote event that was actually fun.
First ever Demoparty, actually. America doesn't really do this kind of thing for some reason. Closest I've done is Defcon, which while fun, isn't the same at all.
Made it to Saarbrücken! No mistakes this time. Looking forward to #revision2024 tomorrow!
Also, this city looks fun. I'll need to use some of my time to explore with my wife.
Oops, I didn't understand how to ride the DB train and accidentally ended up in Heidelberg. Best mistake ever, this place rules. Forfeited the Stuttgart hotel and I'm even closer to my next destination.
It's a shame that communites surrounding Lemmy, Kbin, et al are closer to Pleroma than Mastodon in terms of tolerance for fascism. I really want that part of the Fediverse to succeed, but it's rapidly becoming as toxic as Reddit.
Still better than Reddit by a long shot, and not so toxic that I'm quitting yet, but I might not stick around if things get worse. Already about to switch instances since the flagship mods are slowly shrinking and transforming into corncobs.

It's official. I'll be in Europe for 2+ weeks starting in late March, and I'll be in Saarbrücken for #RevisionParty2024!
Flying to Munich, then making my way by train to Stuttgart, Saarbrücken, Paris, and London, then flying to Dublin for a few days before my flight home.
i havent used CalyxOS in a long time but i am very impressed with this on the Pixel Tablet
the setup process was outstanding and allowed me to install exactly what i need. no cloud account bullshit, just the good stuff
the default behavior of @signalapp on @calyxos via @fdroidorg makes it so the tablet is the primary signal device, ideal for use with a Google Voice number or compartmentalizing your Signal number on a dedicated, torified device
simply outstanding. blog post review in the works
YouTube just hit me with a copyright block on my only pubic video. :(
It was a potato-quality Japanese music video I found on a p2p network that pulled in 90,000 views since I uploaded it 17 years ago.
Sony waited until after they uploaded an official HD version of the same video, so I guess I forgive them.
The track slaps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ20Tgq3jk4
Stability AI just screwed up and published their latest project with an MIT license instead of the proprietary license they wanted. They just tried to pull a switcharoo a day later.
If anyone is interested in teaching a lesson to a company that doesn't respect intellectual property, consider forking their repo before this commit to set the precedent that this is FOSS whether they like it or not: https://github.com/Stability-AI/StableCascade/commit/209a52600f35dfe2a205daef54c0ff4068e86bc7
The three million toothbrush botnet story isn’t true.
Here’s the original source of the story: https://archive.is/2024.01.30-203406/https://www.luzernerzeitung.ch/wirtschaft/kriminalitaet-die-zahnbuersten-greifen-an-das-sind-die-aktuellen-cybergefahren-und-so-koennen-sie-sich-schuetzen-ld.2569480
It’s simply a made up example. It doesn’t exist. It starts talking about NoName Ddosia, too, which also isn’t toothbrushes.
