its awesome to watch the consent machine try like 900 different ways to make this argument on behalf of commercial real estate

@bstacey People are embracing the "Artificial Intelligence" of language models the same way Tesla drivers embrace the "Full Self Driving" of driver assist, as it drives them at highway speeds into the side of a semi truck.

I confess myself a bit baffled by people who act like "how to interact with ChatGPT" is a useful classroom skill. It's not a word processor or a spreadsheet; it doesn't have documented, well-defined, reproducible behaviors. No, it's not remotely analogous to a calculator. Calculators are built to be *right*, not to sound convincing. It's a bullshit fountain. Stop acting like you're a waterbender making emotive shapes by expressing your will in the medium of liquid bullshit. The lesson one needs about a bullshit fountain is *not to swim in it*.

I feel like if China can fly a spy balloon over the US without the military immediately noticing, we're pretty much guaranteed to lose a war with them should that ever happen.

"The size of three buses" is more than enough to hoist a nuke over the US.

Why have ICBMs when you can hover your bombs right over their targets?

The military would basically be liked "Sir, radar has picked up som..." *BOOM*

@kev

Don't forget to filter "RT @" to get rid of the crossposted RTs.

If the crossposter still even works, Elon did make a mess of API support.

@rockylhotka A large number of home routers today have OpenVPN baked into them.

It's pretty straightforward to get set up, and when you connect an outside device in tunnel-all mode, it's like you're connected to your own home network when accessing the Internet.

If you only have to connect once per month to "check in", it should be fairly trivial to avoid issues.

@Chronotope Personally I can't find a real use for 3-5TB of personal cloud storage.

I'm not actively sharing that amount of data, and the data I want to safely archive is stored redundantly on SSDs and BD-Rs that I store in my home and safe deposit box.

there are #QR #code #posters here in #Melbourne for #reporting #graffiti to the #council - and #someone has been #printing their own and #carefully #placing them over the #official ones
they lead to a #documentary on #hiphop/graffiti #culture
it's perfect #because the QR posters are #uglier than any bit of #street #art

If Newsmax wanted to be on DirecTV, they wouldn’t have asked for carriage fees. Point of matter.

@bizzacore @therobburgessshow Very true. There is something about fascism that makes the other side of the spectrum seem more appealing. When the far-right keeps screaming about the threat of Communism, it makes people consider if we should make good on that threat since it's clearly an existential threat to their cause.

@therobburgessshow Liberalism/Neoliberalism is more accepting of the Capitalist status quo. There are very few Democrats who will argue against that status quo.

I will still side with establishment Liberals over establishment Conservatives, but I'm not a fan of the establishment, if that makes sense.

@therobburgessshow I've definitely become less liberal between my mid-20's to mid-30's, but only in the sense that I've become explicitly leftist.

Very proud of my fitness accomplishments.

I average 150 miles of walking per month!

One of those music recognition services that works with humming, but for 90's MIDI files so I can find a file I really liked from my childhood.

the stock market

@halcy Me and my one share of Meta stock that I don't remember buying.

@Alex Do you want to know why?

Because they get up to 50% comission regardless if customers get scammed or return the product.

#Amazon's interests are aligned against it's customers.
Not just #consumers, but same goes with #B2B customers:

The best part about working from home is access to my kitchen.

I'm pretty proud of my ability to cook, and I live right by a grocery story, so rather than hit a local restaurant with coworkers like I used to, I can just make a quick shopping trip, throw together a recipe, and have a high-quality meal for pennies on the dollar from my old pre-2020 habits.

There are good restaurants in my neighborhood too, but it's nice to keep leveling up my culinary skills!

@pnwres My dog Lily is also a notorious toy destroyer, and we thought giving her more robust toys would give her more a a challenge.

Then she started damaging her teeth because she was too determined to destroy any toy we gave her...
