"Building a Virtual Machine inside ChatGPT"
This article is the most fun AI related content I have read all year.

What worries me a bit here is that in trying to preserve some of these systems, there'll probably be a lot of folks pushing tech designed to *prove* humanness to combat it. And politicos and regulators are less likely to hear that and think "guess they should use creative CAPTCHAs" and more likely to think "oh, people should upload passports", and that's gonna be a whole new shitshow
@odanu I also find that filtering "RT @" (no quotes, whole word option unchecked) eliminates RTs from the crossposter.
@vantablack I can't pretend to know everything you're going through, but I do know that nothing in this thread diminishes your value as a person.
You forgot to schedule one appointment? Better late than never. You missed another appointment? You can reschedule. You have enough medicine? Why rush to pick up more?
Being human is inherently hard, and you're far from incompetent at it.
I, for one, would like to see you keep existing.
As we watch Elon Musk slide into rightwing radicalization in real time, I’m reminded of this 1941 piece by Dorothy Thompson.
“Who goes Nazi?”
In short: it is the people who love money and status and power that are at risk.
Those who resist the urge are the people who have a solid family life; a job they love for the work, not the money; a moral framework based on pluralism and equal access to opportunity.
Worth a read. #nazi #Twitter #liberal
What we’re seeing with Kanye West and Nick Fuentes is the beginnings of what could become a multi-racial Christianist coalition organized around antisemitism.
While we might want to dismiss what we’re seeing as “crazy,” I suggest we take it seriously and monitor it closely.
As we saw with Trumpism, people—by which I mean human beings regardless of political views—are drawn to spectacle.
What’s happening is very, very dangerous.
rail workers, labor rights, Christmas, family
I was thinking about what @SlaytheSystem said today about rail workers deserving to have their lives back, to have some time with their family.
The longest my dad was away from us (in the early 80s, Navy) was 11 months. It was supposed to be 6 months but got extended. I was in kindergarten, I think? When we picked him up at the ship, I didn't even recognize him, and actually asked him where my dad was. 😢
I don't want #rail workers' kids to have that kind of experience. The workers aren't even asking for much! And if people think a #strike would "ruin Christmas," then I think their priorities around #Christmas are a wee bit misplaced.
I haven't had cannabis in a month!
Not quitting permanently, but happy to take breaks to ensure I'm not going overboard with it.
It's no fun having too high a tolerance to feel it, or overdoing it as a result and just ending up anxious.
Planning for another month, and maybe having some fun for new years.
I notice this happening on multiple social media sites, and it always contributes to the death of social networks:
1. Progressives tend to be early adopters because they usually create culture
2. Reactionaries tend to be late adopters because they usually consume culture
3. Reactionaries then try to seize power because the culture isn't to their liking
4. Progressives leave because they want to create culture
5. Then reactionaries leave because no culture is being created
