@PeggyJoan I’ve already seen some of “them” deriding Mastodon as a leftist echo chamber. But, if by echo chamber, they mean that fascists, racists, homophobes, transphobes, et al running amok isn’t tolerated, then so be it.
I already do view Twitter as a home for the alt-right. That’s why I deactivated my account earlier this year.
@GregHester @PeggyJoan It really does speak for the state of Conservatism if basic rules against hate speech, harassment, and abuse are equal to a ban on Conservatism.
I'm not going to argue that it isn't true, but it certainly doesn't make this place an echo chamber. I see regular disagreements here, it's just that people aren't threatening violence and using slurs and insults to express that. And the disagreements aren't generally about who deserves personhood.
Wife has work today, and I don't. I think I might take an extremely long walk today. #Seattle is such a great place to explore on foot.
I cannot keep this to myself. There is a website (radio.garden) where you can listen to radio stations all over the world for free. No log in. No email address. Nothing.
When the site loads, you are looking at the globe. Slide the little white circle over the green dots (each green dot is a radio station) until you find one you like.
I have been listening to this station in the Netherlands and it absolutely slaps. I have no idea what they're saying but the music is fantastic.
@neil @liw Next year is my 19th year as a Linux Desktop user.
The only thing that ever kept me using Windows on the side was PC Gaming, but that's not a problem anymore. My Gaming desktop runs Linux, and I have a Steam Deck, and both run everything I need them to.
I swear, the only people still badmouthing the Linux Desktop are people who are afraid of learning a little bit of bash, which quite frankly isn't difficult, and you don't need to use it often if you don't want to.
@Estebiu I loved my Thinkpad T440p. It was old, but it worked great. There were a few Linux hiccups, but nothing I couldn't glue back together with scripts.
This new laptop feels like a toy it's so light, but I'm blown away by the performance, and the Linux QA work that S76 does really makes it feel like a finished product, as far as the Linux Desktop experience goes.
Might look into one of their Thelio towers in the future once I've broken this new laptop in.
I feel pretty upgraded today!
Got my new #System76 Lemur Pro laptop, a 9 year jump in hardware over my last laptop.
Figured out that I can switch my Pixel 7 Pro into high-DPI mode, which my eyes are still capable of enjoying.
Feels like the future!
@skyfaller @albinanigans @davidgerard Yeah, that guy regularly boosts posts from accounts with custom swastika emojis in their display names, follows accounts from explicitly Neo-Nazi oriented instances, and then cries on his blog that people call him a Nazi, while in the same breath admitting that he was an early Gab user...
Like, sure, not all TERFs are Nazis, but he's not being subtle about it.
Now, I know, I admin my own private instance, I have the unilateral power to defederate, and I definitely wield it
But anyone can block an instance from the account level, and more people should take the liberty of doing so.
